While working in community development with people in poor housing conditions, Scott was motivated to improve the built environment. After completing an MSc in Architecture (Advanced Environmental and Energy Systems) and doing lab-based research into natural building materials he rebuilt his family home with them in Scotland - using skills gained as a housebuilder in Vancouver. Scott is one of 20 entrepreneurs selected by Scottish Enterprise for the inaugural £4m Unlocking Ambition challenge supporting innovative and high potential companies. He also won places through all three stages of the EU's Climate KIC business accelerator programme, in residence at the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation.
Gary is an experienced business adviser who has been working with privately owned businesses including start-ups for over 30 years. Gary was a partner with KPMG for 14 years and latterly led their Family Business practice in the UK. He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He is also a member of the Advisory Boards of The Institute for Family Business (www.ifb.org), Oxfam Scotland, and for the MSc Management course at Imperial College, London. Gary is currently a Director with the HALO Kilmarnock development project, a 28 acre site of urban regeneration. He is also a business owner of Strathblair Associates, a team of business advisors.
Advisor to the Board
Alastair has 25 years of senior experience in the construction products sales sector. Starting out as an architect, Alastair has worked in sales with some of the largest thermal insulation, acoustic and membrane companies in the UK including Kingspan, the Proctor Group and Superglass where he was Commercial Director. His experience includes marketing and improving logistics as well as bringing novel construction products to market. Alastair brings invaluable sales and marketing insights to the company, helping develop sales and marketing strategies and routes to market.
Susanna has 15 years of business experience including her own start-up and has an MA Hons Business Studies. Susanna is key to developing the business as it grows - working across all aspects of business operations to set up and establish systems, control finances and secure production premises. Susanna's business knowledge and positive enthusiasm for IndiNature's values is a super driver within the company.
Sam is a serial entrepreneur with start-up experience including 17 years' experience growing local, national and international sustainable enterprises. Experience as Managing Director for Social Enterprise Academy International has taken Sam to 16 countries including Malaysia, India, China, S. Africa, Pakistan and Australia to replicate SEAI globally. With a love of the outdoors and a background working in nature conservation with the John Muir Trust, Sam is passionate about IndiNature's values.
George is an international business leader who brings a broad range of strategic and executive experience to the IndiNature Board. A native of Glasgow and graduate in Mechanical Engineering, George developed a truly international business career - living in 12 countries. His experience includes profitably growing capital goods manufacturing companies, executing international distribution strategies and driving disruptive innovation through the dynamic Agri-tech space. This includes his time as CEO of the Saudi Arabia Packaging Industry for ten years, growing it from $25m to $150m.
He was appointed by the Scottish First Minister as a GlobalScot over 10 years ago and continues to make positive contributions to assisting Scottish businesses to expand globally in this prestigious business ambassador role. George runs his own consulting practice, Waypoint Scotland, and sits as a non-executive director on the board of Aglytix Inc, a company that creates technologies that help food companies make cleaner, more sustainable and healthier foods. George enjoys languages is fluent in French and Italian and takes an active role as a tenor in Tayside Opera based in Dundee, Scotland.
Non Exec Director
Ewan has 30 years experience in senior business management with an MSc in Business Management and a PGDip in Information Systems. His experience includes working on telecoms software for a large multinational with responsibility for the quality assurance of multi-million dollar software projects, managing contractors and leading teams – as well as a similar role with a start-up. Ewan is also an experienced investor in a spectrum of areas. Known for his urban chickens and bee hives, Ewan also has an interest in developing sustainable farming.
Euan is an Architect, Approved Certifier of Design and Passivhaus Designer. As an original Co-founder sharing our environmental and social values, Euan brought his exceptional technical skills and knowledge of building regulations and materials to the company. His holistic understanding of the built and natural environment, energy and strong ecological principles were important in establishing the company’s foundations. Experienced in low carbon design and retrofit, Euan made a significant contribution to the development of IndiNature’s products and system including the design and detailing of the IndiHowf building before leaving the company in June 2018 to return to full-time architectural practice.
