What we offer

 This is an exciting opportunity to come in early and grow with a young company that is leading the way in low carbon natural fibre products for a range of markets. The company has successfully set up a natural fibre insulation mill and has now just installed its second production line. Both lines use non-woven textile machinery. The original line includes airlay and thermobonding processes. The new line includes carding, crosslap and needle loom machinery.

We will provide on-site training in the operation of the lines.

For the right candidates there are opportunities to progress in future to Shift Supervisor.

Permanent, Full Time

£12.60/hr

+ Shift allowance 

Hours and shift allowance

Full time

Single day shift to start - other shifts may be added in the future

Must be available to work on different shifts

A shift allowance will be added if working unsocial hours

Holidays and benefits

35 holidays p.a.

4% company pension contribution, matching 4% personal contribution

It was founded to make the largest possible positive impacts on the climate, the environment and people's health in the construction of buildings and is now expanding into wider markets including furnishings, acoustics and composites. The parent company (Industrial Nature Ltd) is based in Edinburgh - it is a materials R&D company focused on developing and bringing to market natural, low carbon products. The company set up its first manufacturing facility in the Scottish Borders and moved into the Mill in August 2021.

Raw materials include industrial hemp, flax and sheep’s wool. These are processed through a non-woven textiles production line.

Who you will work with

As part of a shift of 5 operational workers, you'll be joining a friendly team with a purpose - to make products for healthy, ecological buildings. You will be part of a small production team, working closely with the Production Engineer and be line managed by the Operations Manager. Job purpose

Your goal is to assist in keeping the production line running across a variety of roles - including operating and maintaining machinery, feeding the machines with raw materials, assisting at the packaging station and transporting goods in and out.

 

Training

1.      You will be offered:

a.      Training in the operation of the machinery

b.      To undertake any further training required (e.g. forklift, H&S, etc)

Roles

2.      You may rotate across roles such as:

a.      Operating and maintaining production machinery

b.      Driving a forklift to load and unload deliveries (we can provide training)

c.       Using lifting equipment to feed fibre bales into machinery.

d.      Assisting at the packaging station as required

e.      Always ensuring Health and Safety procedures are followed

Essential experience or qualifications

1.      Some experience related to machinery - this may be at college level only

1.      Electrical or mechanical skills

2.      Forklift licence (or we can provide this)
