Our Impact

Pale blue dot

From space, the earth is a fragile pale blue dot – now in crisis from climate chaos and biodiversity loss. We can leave a better legacy than this.

IndiNature was founded to reverse the damage which has been done – on a global industrial scale.

We have a planet to cool

Capturing carbon – naturally

The construction industry is responsible for nearly 50% of carbon emissions – when you include the amount of carbon needed to make products, construction plus heating and cooling (Green Building Council, 2017).

IndiNature uses very fast growing industrial crops – these pull CO2 from the air as they grow, which then gets locked up in our products. Our manufacturing processes use as little as 10% of the energy of conventional insulations. This means, in total, our products are storing a net amount of carbon – reversing climate change.

Each factory captures as much carbon as 5,200,258 trees

10,483 tonnes CO2/yr x 30 years. Data from Zhou, 2019. Full Carbon Life Cycle Assessment of IndiTherm®

Think circular

Zero waste

The construction industry is responsible for 50% of landfill waste (Zero Waste Scotland, 2017). This outdated linear “take, make, waste” era is now ending – driven by global policies.

IndiNature are leaders in the circular bio-economy. At end-of-life our products can easily be reused or reprocessed into the same products again - we even have one product which can be hot-composted. All while being durable in a building even in the most extreme environments.

Grown by the sun

Renewable resources

The construction industry takes 50% of global natural resources (Green Building Council, 2017). IndiNature’s products are made from fast-growing renewable industrial crops.

Breathe easy

Health

You know that ‘new home’ smell? That’s not good. That’s all the toxic volatile organic compounds from products off-gassing into your home or office over time. Which is why we only use natural materials. Good for the air you breathe.

Natural insulations are also designed to ‘breathe’ out excess water vapour safely - like our traditional buildings used to before we started wrapping them in plastic insulations and membranes. Natural materials mean reduced risks of damp and mould and lung irritation – and a nice comfy humidity – just right!

Builders love our materials as well – soft to touch and no petrochemical or glass dust blowing about during installation.

Buildings taking care of the planet

Good for people, good for the planet

IndiNature products are designed to contribute directly to achieving many of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. These are our top three:

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
