Housewarming: Hemp insulation for Renfrewshire Council social housing

We’re very proud that our first commercial install is for social housing.

Everyone should enjoy the benefits of healthy, comfortable homes which they can afford to heat. This is where IndiNature’s co-founder Scott started – working in community development on council estates like this – which motivated him to develop materials like IndiTherm®. It is so good to get to this stage.

Social housing is increasingly driven by carbon targets such as those in the Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing. IndiNature’s products are helping Renfrewshire Council reduce their carbon footprint by reducing operational (heating of homes) carbon as well as embodied carbon (from making materials) by using our local UK crop-based products. Unlike conventional insulations which emit huge amounts of carbon in their production, IndiTherm captures more carbon than the amount needed to make it.

The installers from City Gate Construction loved how soft the materials felt and the absence of dust. This makes us feel great by protecting the health of builders.
